Image galleries and such

Trying to get a few more PyBlosxom plugins installed here to do various things. I’ve got rdfpic installed (with a little hacking so it doesn’t crash the blog when a picture doesn’t have comments). It works nice, otherwise. I may try hacking it to show metadata from digital cameras rather than from rdfpic, since most pictures here will be from a digital camera. It’s very blosxomnic, since all you have to do to publish a picture is to throw it into the directory. My only remaining concern is that each image shows up as a separate post, which tends to push other things off the front page. I’m wondering if something can be done so that particular categories aren’t shown on the front page; that way I can put the image galleries in one category, and not have them shown (and post a link).

I’m trying to use the remembertimes plugin, but it doesn’t seem to work. I guess it’s easiest to use the time in the name. Hmm…maybe the two plugins don’t get along?

Update: I have a basic fix to the “galleries eat my front page” problem. If I put galleries two levels below the main page, and limit the recursion depth to 2, then photos won’t show up on the front page. They will show up in the categories list, and if you go to the photogalleries category, you should see photos from every gallery. This isn’t exactly what I want, because it affects other categories too — suppose I had a zombies/Romero category for talking about Romero’s films. Posts from that category wouldn’t be shown on the front page. But I’m not likely to do that kind of thing (one level per category is deep enough for me, for now), so this solution is Good Enough until I get bothered and write a plugin to do the Right Thing.
