Search result squatting/spamming
Recently, when I’ve been doing searches on Google, I’ve been getting pages like this (for “humane mouse trap”) and this (for “NEC Ready 440t memory installation”) high in my searches. Don’t follow htose links if you are running windows and don’t have trustworthy spyware protection — I have no idea how low the people behind those websites will stoop.
Anyway, what you get when you go to one of these sites is a page that looks somewhat like a normal website, with some very general text into which your search term has been cut-and-pasted. I presume there are ads, but my ad-blocker software keeps me from seeing them. Anyway, very annoying, and the people who do this kind of thing are destroying the usefulness of the web.
