Blog upgrades
I’ve upgraded my blogging software to the newest version of PyBlosxom. This broke the comment plugin, so comments are not working for now. On the positive side, I now have my blog running on FastCGI like it should be. Hurrah! On another negative, I’ve had to disable the pager (doesn’t work under fastcgi). So, we’ll see.
Eventually I want to move over to a Django-based blog, but I need to be able to import all of my old entries, and I’d like to keep it filesystem-based rather than in a database. Hmm…
Update: Comments are fixed. Pager still broken. Trackbacks broken, but I’m not sure they ever worked anyway.

FC5 packges for Quod Libet
Quod Libet is a very good music player, written in Python. I was having trouble with Rhythmbox (on startup it would hang and start consuming memory until it OOMed). I tried Banshee, but it doesn’t yet have support for internet radio, or for podcasts. Quod Libet is more complete than Banshee, and more stable than Rhythmbox.
It is also a very capable tag editor, and makes fixing inconsistencies in your music collection’s tags very straightforward. It is extensible with plugins in Python, though I haven’t looked into this very much yet. The one feature I am missing would be to write mp3 cds, which Banshee does, and which would be terribly handy for my cheap-ass mp3 player. Apparently there used to be a QL plugin for this, but it needs to be updated.
I have built rpms for Quod Libet and its dependencies for Fedora Core 5. They are in my yum repository. You will almost certainly also want gstreamer-plugins-good, gstreamer-plugins-bad, and gstreamer-plugins-ugly and their dependencies from freshrpms.
