Summer harvest
We’re starting to get a decent harvest of summer vegetables. You can see the pictures here.

Green squash
This is an unripe butternut squash on the vine. We have lots and lots of butternut squash, for which we will be very grateful in the fall. As a hard “winter” squash, these keep rather well. They were unaffected by the squash vine borer that killed off the pumpkins.

Our side garden
This is the side garden. The okra, the peppers, and most of the eggplants are here.

Another eggplant
This is another Italian-variety eggplant (I don’t remember the actual name of the variety). The Japanese-variety eggplants were mostly earlier in the season; there are a few growing now, but they are rather small.

Tomato cage
Our tomato cages are made from rolls of wire. They work pretty well, but the holes are too small to reach through, and it is hard to support them.

Growing squash
This butternut squash is ripe or nearly so. Many of our butternut squash are larger than the average grocery store butternut squash.

Big tomatoes
These tomatoes are quite big. They are a little split, probably because of the rain last week.

A big eggplant
This eggplant is actually not all that big yet, but I have hopes that it will get bigger. It is propped up on a brick to keep things from eating the bottom of it.

She is a little more visible here.

Camoflaged kitten
The kitten is following its mama around the garden. It is well-camoflaged by the mulch.
